This policy explains what personal data AABStudio.ai collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. It covers the platform on every device, our website and our emails.
1. Who we are
AABStudio.ai (“AABStudio”, “we”, “us”) is a video production platform run by AABStudio, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17392839. Our registered office is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.
We are the controller of the personal data we hold about you as an account holder. Where a business uses a Studio Team workspace, that business decides what its team creates, and we handle the team's content on its behalf as its processor.
For anything about your privacy, email admin@aabstudio.ai.
2. Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, password (kept only in a scrambled form we cannot read back), profile photo if you add one, sign in security settings, and your role and plan.
- If you continue with Google: Google shares your name, email address, profile photo and a Google account identifier with us, so we can create your account or sign you in. We do not receive your Google password.
- Subscription details: your plan, how often you pay, the state of your subscription, your credit balance and credit history. Card details are collected by our payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Your content: scripts, projects, scenes, recordings, images and other files you upload, videos you create or export, captions, and the settings you choose for them.
- AI Presenter inputs: the script and the photo or presenter you choose when you create an AI Presenter video.
- Team information: team names, team members, and the email addresses you invite.
- Technical and security information: IP address, device and software details, sign in times, security events, and a record of important actions on your account, such as sign ins, exports and plan changes.
- Support access records: a record each time our staff view one of your projects (see section 6).
- Messages: emails you send us and emails we send you.
3. How we use your information, and why we are allowed to
- To run the platform for you (your account, projects, recording, editing, exporting, teams and AI features): this is needed to carry out our contract with you.
- To take payments and manage subscriptions and credits: our contract with you, and our legal duty to keep tax and accounting records.
- To keep the platform safe from fraud, abuse, automated attacks and unauthorised access: our legitimate interest in protecting our users and our service.
- To help you when you ask for support: our contract with you and our legitimate interests.
- To look into abuse, safety concerns or suspected illegal content: our legitimate interests, and our legal duties where they apply.
- To meet our legal duties and answer lawful requests from authorities.
- To send service emails such as email confirmation, security alerts, receipts, team invitations and important changes: our contract with you and our legitimate interests.
- To send marketing emails: only with your consent, or where the law allows us to contact existing customers. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To understand and improve the platform using combined usage information that does not identify you: our legitimate interests.
- To measure how our website is used and whether our advertising works, using analytics and marketing cookies: only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from Cookie settings (section 12).
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your content to train AI models of our own. We do not make decisions about you using only automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. AI and voice features
- AI Presenter: when you create a presenter video, the script and the photo or presenter you chose are sent to a specialist AI video provider, which creates the video and returns it to your project. That provider handles this information under its own terms and privacy policy. Only upload photos of yourself, or of people who have given you permission.
- AI Segmentation, which splits a script into scenes, runs on our own systems.
- Background replacement and blur while recording run on your own device. Your camera image is not sent to us for this.
- Voice following (in the teleprompter and in Sync recording) uses the speech recognition service provided by your device or by the software you use to open AABStudio. Depending on that software, your spoken audio may be handled by its maker under its own terms while the feature is on. We do not receive or store that audio. The feature only runs while you use it, and you can turn it off.
5. Studio Team workspaces
If you join a team, every member of that team can open and edit the team's projects and can see the names and email addresses of the other members. The team owner can invite and remove members. AI Presenter use by members draws on the team's shared credits, and the owner can see who used them. Team projects belong to the team, so if you leave or are removed, you lose access to them.
6. When our staff can see your projects
Your projects are private and our staff cannot browse them. A small number of authorised administrators can open a single project in view only mode, and only for one of these reasons:
- Customer support: only while you, or your team owner, have switched on “Allow support access” for that project. It switches off by itself after 7 days, and you can switch it off sooner.
- A technical fault affecting your project or the platform.
- Abuse or safety reports, including suspected illegal content.
- Legal requests or duties, such as a valid request from the police or a court.
Each view needs a stated reason and is recorded (who, which project, when and why) in a log that cannot be edited or deleted. Views for support or a technical fault are shown to you in the project's “Support access” section. Views for abuse or legal reasons are recorded but may not be shown to you, because showing them could harm an investigation or be against the law. This kind of access does not let staff edit, delete or download your content.
7. Who we share information with
We share personal data with companies that help us run the platform, only for that purpose and under contracts that require them to protect it. They fall into these groups:
- Hosting: the servers, database and file storage that run AABStudio.
- Payments: taking payments and managing subscriptions.
- AI video: creating AI Presenter videos (section 4).
- Email delivery: sending our emails, such as email confirmation and team invitations.
- Security: the check on sign up and sign in that helps tell people apart from automated attacks.
- Content delivery: services that supply fonts and parts of our software when you open AABStudio, which receive your IP address to do so.
- Analytics and advertising: measuring how our website is used and whether our adverts lead to sign ups and purchases, only if you allow these cookies (section 12). Some of these companies also use this information for their own purposes, such as improving their services and showing adverts, under their own privacy policies.
You can ask us for the names of these companies by emailing admin@aabstudio.ai.
We may also share information with other members of your team (section 5), with our professional advisers, with authorities where the law requires it or to protect someone from harm, and with a buyer or successor if our business is reorganised or sold.
8. Information handled outside the UK
Some of the companies we work with handle data outside the United Kingdom. When that happens, we rely on the UK's adequacy regulations or on safeguards approved under UK law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us about these safeguards.
9. How long we keep information
- Account information and content: while your account is open. You can delete projects at any time.
- When you delete your account: your personal data and content are removed through our account deletion process. Some information may stay in backups for a limited time until it is overwritten.
- Payment and tax records: for as long as the law requires, usually six years.
- Security, activity and support access records: kept for accountability and to protect users and the platform. Support access records cannot be deleted. Once your account is deleted, they no longer link to you.
- Team invitations: expire after 7 days.
10. Keeping information safe
We use technical and organisational measures that we consider appropriate to protect personal data, and we review them as the platform changes. No system connected to the internet can be made completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us or stored with us. You can help by using a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, and by keeping your sign in details private. Where the law requires it, we will tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office about a personal data breach that affects you.
11. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to limit or object to how we use it (including objecting to direct marketing at any time), to receive it in a format you can take elsewhere, and to withdraw consent where we rely on consent. These rights have conditions and exceptions set by law.
You can download your data and delete your account from your account settings, or email admin@aabstudio.ai. We deal with requests within the time limits set by UK data protection law and may need to confirm who you are first.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
12. Cookies and storage on your device
- Essential cookies: to keep you signed in (a session cookie, plus a “remember me” cookie for 30 days if you choose it) and to remember whether you prefer the light or dark theme.
- Security: the sign up and sign in check may use cookies or similar technology to tell people apart from automated traffic.
- Storage on your device: the teleprompter saves your scripts and its daily recording counter on your device, so they are only available on that device.
With your permission we also use analytics cookies, to see how our website is used, and marketing cookies, to measure our advertising and show adverts about AABStudio on other sites. These are only used if you allow them in our cookie banner. If you are signed in and have not made a choice, we use essential cookies only. You can change your choice at any time from Cookie settings. Our Cookie Policy lists the cookies we use.
13. Children
AABStudio is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you think someone under 18 has given us personal data, email admin@aabstudio.ai so we can remove it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform or the law changes. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will let you know by email or in the platform.
